The Black Angels were in town last night, playing at The Madison Theatre in Covington. The show started early, but the crowd had gathered early as well, either because they wanted to make sure they didnt miss the opening Angels, or they wanted to get a few extra drinks in them before the headlining Black Keys took the stage. I was part of the former group, and Im glad I was.

This was my first time seeing The Black Angels, but as Ive mentioned here before, “Passover” is gonna end up in my top 10 albums of 2006. The band took the stage slowly and quietly and crept up on everyone with their thick, bass infused rock of Young Men Dead, also the first track from “Passover”. They played a consistent, quality set, and a full set too, lasting about 45 minutes, which is not easy to do with only one album to pull from. Below is a pic of the setlist for the big fans.

Also, for way too many pics from The Black Angels Set, have a peek at my photo set on Flickr.
Just noticed you can purchase the album, Passover for only 6.99 from Amazon if you click it below…..
