The Black Neon
Ive had the debut from Euro-rockers The Black Neon in my car now for about two weeks and everytime I see it I have to put it in. Now, here is the odd part, I dont love it. And when I say that, you must understand that it is still quite good, but the only reason I can think of that I continue to spin this is that Im hoping it gets better, and maybe it will, if its gonna grow the seeds are certainly planted.

You know the type, the album you know you are gonna like, and then it doesnt quite meet expectations, then after a month or so, it just clicks. I have a feeling Arts and Crafts may fall into that category. The Black Neon have been described as Electronic, Krautrock and quite a few other PR adjectives. And while they certainly do cross over into some nice mecha sounds on the electronic side and the German upbringing shows thier Krautrock side at times as well, I dont think those two categories suit them enough. Maybe its best described as “electronic music for indie kids”. And not in a Postal Service kinda way either. I guess I say this because its more accessible than most electronic for those that dont care for it, but has just enough on the emo lyrics and catchy beat side to get the indie kids toe tapping.

Here is the song that I like most from The Black Neon titled, “Ralph and Barbara”.
