Robert Duffy and the gang at Donewaiting.com have their own record label, Sunken Treasure records. This is not new news but I finally got around to giving their first signing The Celebrity Pilots a proper listen. What I found was pleasantly surprising. Chris Sheehan is the Celebrity Pilots, though he tours with a full band. But his DNA is all over the songs here. Taking a page from such indie acts as The Shins and even another great Ohio indie act Guided by Voices, the songs grow on you like a winter beard. Warm and comforting over repeated listens. Ive just listened a handful of times via the streaming audio available for the album. I plan to purchase the album, “Under the Pavement, A Beach” today.
