
As if the great city of Austin, Texas needs another solid indie rock band to call it’s own, along comes The Drawing Board. But no worries, these guys are not here to water down the scene at all. Actually, the songs I am really enjoying on this records add to the Austin mystique more than anything. While the five piece claim the likes of Elvis Costello and Cotton Mather as influences, their music sounds more like a mixture of early Weezer on the more upbeat tunes (see “Something I Can’t Have) and a bit like Elliott Smith during the low key tunes. (see “It’s A Lie”)
