The Features
A few years ago there was a tune by The Features that was just brilliant, the song, “Blow It Out”, is still one of my favorite jump up and dance tunes. Ive been closely tracking the bands progress ever since and the story has gotten more than interesting in recent months.

Ill sum the story up for you as quickly as I can since its not really fresh news anymore, but interesting all the same in the same old battle. Bands v Labels (take 12)……

The Features are recording their 2nd album for Universal Records when they get a request from the label to contribute a cover version of The Beatles “All You Need Is Love” for a credit card commercial. The band talks it over and decides against it. The label responds by dropping them outright. The band goes through some turmoil, even loses a member and regroups for the upcoming EP, “Contrast”.

A better synopsis can be found in The Nashville Scene.

The five tunes on Contrast are just what you would expect from The Features however, and if you didnt read the indie rumor mill you might not even know the difference. However, the transitions can be felt with some close attention to leadman Matt Pelhams lyrics. ““Look at what we have done / See the colors begin to fade, Soon we’ll lose everyone / And they’ll only be shades of gray. ”

The Features are self releasing this EP while they shop for labels that have less affiliations with credit card companies.
