Bloomington Indiana’s IMPOSSIBLE SHAPES are on the move again. Secretly Canadian will release their album “TUM” on March 7. Created in only two weeks in drummer Mark Rice’s garage, many consider “TUM” to be their masterwork. Recorded as a counterpoint to their darker 2005 record “HORUS”, “TUM” is decidedly more open and experimental and everyone in the band contributed songs. “TUM” was previously released last year on St. Ives Records as a vinyl-only release, and in conjunction offered as a internet only release to coincide with their tour with Jens Lekman. The album was only up for 6 weeks on the Secretly Canadian website and was downloaded an astounding 45,000 times!

In February the Shapes take to the road again, this time with Lawrence Kansas’ Drakkar Sauna supporting them on the first leg. On a related note, Impossible Shapes member Aaron Deer, aka HORNS OF HAPPINESS, will release “Would I Find Your Psychic Guideline” on February 7. This silkscreened (by the band) 12″ only limited record debuts their “new sound” of furiously-pounded drums and minimal organs, and features new collaborator and drummer Shelly Harrison.
