Here is a treat for all the Arctic Monkeys fans out there, or just fans of UK rock in general, like myself. You may or may not already be aware of the project of Alex Turner (Arctic Monkeys), and Miles Kane (from The Rascals) that is known better as The Last Shadow Puppets.
Formed late last summer, Turner and Kane got together after Kane’s former band, The Little Flames, was touring with Arctic Monkeys May/June 2005 UK tour. Kane then played guitar on the “505″ and “Fluorescent Adolescent,” two great songs Favourite Worst Nightmare, the sophomore Arctic Monkeys album.
The duo got together to record at The Last Shadow Puppets not long after, at Black Box Studios in France and enlisted the help of Owen Pallett (Final Fantasy) to arrange the strings for the album with the 22-piece London Metropolitan Orchestra. Enjoy these two songs from the upcoming album, The Age Of The Understatement, which is out in the UK & Europse April 21st and here in the states May 6th from Domino Records.
Enjoy these live versions of songs from the upcoming album recorded at Avatar Studios in New York.
