The National are one of those bands that very few people, outside of those that have never heard of the band, can honestly say they do not like. The boys are doing a bit of a hometown show (all are from the Cincy area) next Friday at Shake It Records, which was recently named by leadman Matt Beringer as his favorite records store in this interview. (and of course WOXY.com is his favorite radio station)
So be sure to get to Shake It early for this one. The band is scheduled to play at around 7:30 before their show at the 20th Century Theater in Oakley, and will be fresh off of playing at Bonarroo.
Haha… The facetiousness of the ever-saracastic J-Love has reached ENS… I love this band way too much
Agreed about Shapes & Sizes, good stuff, I wrote about them awhile back. As for The National, that is or was my point. Everyone likes em!
The Natio-who?????
Wow! They are giving up home-cooked dinners for an instore @ Shake-It!. The guys working shake it told me they were trying to get them when I bought their CD on release day, but I didn’t think they’d do it after a 10 PM – 12 gig at Bonnaroo the night before. I did pass Shake-it’s request along to the band when I saw them in NYC last week, but still thought it was a shot in the dark.
Seriously, how many people are going to make the trek from Shake-It at 7:30 to 20th Century afterwards?!?
BTW: The National = awesome! #1 act to see @ Bonnaroo!
4:42 pm
Thanks for the heads up. I saw the Shake It props in the interview and got excited. I’d love to catch them there, but I don’t want to miss their opening acts, Talkdemonic and Shapes and Sizes. The former has an album coming out in August… in the UK, at least… uh, I think.
And Shapes and Sizes already has a fantastic new album out. You can stream their whole album at the label’s website (Asthmatic Kitty):

I heard The National have a pretty cool album out, too. Somebody should seriously blog about that.
