The latest and probably the last addition to the Desdemona Festival was announced recently, the indie rock famous Apples in Stereo! If you arent familiar with this great band, here is the rundown.
- Along with two buddies–Will Cullen Hart and Bill Doss, co-founders of the lysergically hued Olivia Tremor Control– Robert Schneider and Jeff Mangum (Neutral Milk Hotel) launched a loose-knit psychedelic music appreciation society/record label called Elephant Six during their college years.
- Schnieder later met John Hill, bassist Eric Allen and drummer Hilarie Sidney (now Schneider’s wife and mother of their young son, Max). The foursome became The Apples in Stereo.
- Their first release was the Tidal Wave EP. 500 copies of it were pressed and it included a twelve-page illustrated booklet, poster, and stickers. This became the first “official” record to be released by the Elephant 6 Recording Company.
