These United States plots debut album release, tour

Great new music to bring your way today that I have been enjoying for quite awhile now. It’s from singer songwriter Jesse Elliott, who goes by These United States and hails from Washington DC. Jesse is one of many young singer songwriters that I am really into of late, a group that includes Elvis Perkins, Vandaveer, and Fion Regan, just to name a few. But what got me hooked initially was how much I was able to liken his sound to that of another ENS favorite M. Ward.

It’s mostly Jesse’s voice, but the overall sound of this record, and my obvious fanboy attitude about all thing M. Ward have made this one of my favorite singer/songwriter albums in some time. Don’t get me wrong though, he is no clone of Ward, but just has some strong vocal similarities that really snagged me. His album was self-released last year and I have been wearing out a copy ever since of his debut, A Picture of the Three of us at the Gate to the Garden of Eden. The album gets released in March, and March is also the beginning of a crazy big tour for Jesse, which sees him hitting SXSW, doing a session with Daytrotter, and also sharing the stage with the likes of Vandaveer, Wye Oak, Bon Iver, Arizona, Jukebox The Ghost and many others.
