Wilco was the main draw for many concert goers this weekend that probably dont care at all about riverboats. Id even bet that a large number of people dont care about many of the other musical acts that took the stage this weekend. Well, as a confessed Wilco nut I was very ready to take in Jeff and the boys for the fifth time and they did not dissapoint. First impression is there were so many people there! For those of you who have been to Sawyer Point, the main lawn area was full. Yes, almost totally full with people there to see Wilco.
Next, I have to also say that the new material is sounding incredible, especially Walken. Nels shredded as usual and I still am unsure how Glenn makes it through Misunderstood every night, that song is a workout in itself for him. Its refreshing to hear an established band with a large back catalouge, especially when the majority of the acts I catch are young indie acts with barely a full album to their credit. Oct 10, 2006I agree about the sound of the band right now. I just saw them at MSU auditorium on 10/6 and it was the best show of theirs I’ve seen.
Oct 10, 2006I saw them in Layfaette Indiana 10/4, then MSU 10/6, then Tall Stacks 10/7 Followed by Louisville 10/8. My Running total on Wilco Shows is now up to 10…..I would like to say that they sound better and newer every time I See them….they are the band to be seeing these days….if you pass up your chance to see a Wilco show, you’re a very foolish person

Oct 12, 2006Hey – I had a chance to see Wilco back in 99 in Dayton when Matthew Sweet opened for them, but had to leave early. Always regretted it – but Tallstacks more than made up for it. Great set! Great stageshow – these boys were dead on, and completely tight. I enjoyed the encore a little less so, butin the great scheme of things the encore still ranked above most concerts I’ve seen in the last 5 years. Great show guys!
